Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest
Many years ago Robert F. Kennedy Jr. decided that one of America’s most precious natural resources needed protection against pollution. It is a good thing he did too, modern manufacturers would have possibly ruined our water systems by now if not for Kennedy’s thoughtfulness. He felt that all people have the right to clean and safe water to drink and bathe in, as a result we have minimal problems with intentional pollution.
While our waters are kept clean it is not without a great amount of help from the Waterkeeper Alliance, the organization that Kennedy helped develop years ago. This organization works hard year after year to ensure that we all have safe clean water to enjoy. As with any type of environmental protection agency, the Waterkeeper Alliance relies heavily upon funding.
Each year an impressive amount of money is funded to this organization to keep it up and running. These funds are given on behalf of celebrities, those seen on tv, in movies, as well as the Olympic winter sports athletes. Each year, as they have for over 20 years, these celebrities get together for an entire weekend to raise funds for the WaterKeeper Alliance. The charitable event is well known and will be held in Deer Valley Utah this December.
This highly successful CBS televised fundraiser is well known as the Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest. Along with the contributions of many companies, a phenomenal weekend of fabulous dining and challenging ski competitions raise a large amount of money to keep America’s waters clean. While the contributions and entry fees are considered to be a generous and sizable amount for the organization, celebrities have an additional opportunity to donate to the contribution amount awarded to the Waterkeeper Alliance.
Two auctions are held during the event, one is a live auction, the other a silent auction. The proceeds of course go to a great cause so most of the celebrities don’t hesitate to get a bit carried away with their bidding. Truly the Skifest is an experience that every participating celebrity looks forward to each year. The luxurious amenities and ‘fit for royalty’ pampering they get at Deer Valley.
Though the Skifest is a tightly secured event and spectators are kept to a minimum, fans can still see the event as it is aired on the CBS television station. Be sure to tune in to this year’s Skifest, as it is expected to have a phenomenal turn out and is predicted to be one of the best funding events held thus far for this cause. If finding the luring beauty of Deer Valley irresistible, start planning your own Utah vacation and ski Deer Valley slopes. Though you should be warned, Deer Valley has a reputation of becoming an addictive vacation hotspot no matter the season.
