Park City, Utah provides the perfect setting for kids and teenagers to foster an appreciation for the great outdoors while promoting physical activity and adventure for active and curious minds. Whether you’re already a local of this beautiful city or simply planning a visit in the near future, we encourage you to explore some of the many activities for kids and families for making the most of your Park City stay.
In the summer months Park City is the perfect place for taking the kids on walking hikes and bike trails. The area is full of amazing views and trails for every age and activity level with much to observe and appreciate regardless of the path. For those who are visiting, Park City offers numerous bicycle rental shops so families can take rides together on tandem bikes or smaller bikes for kids. There is also a local dirt bike park that is free of admission and allows beginners and more experienced dirt bikers to ride on varying sizes of dirt hills for hours on end. For those who don’t ride themselves, the park is still an entertaining stop for watching other extreme sports enthusiasts and their dirt bike tricks.
Park City’s famous “Talisker Club” is founded with the idea of living well and encourages their members to regularly make the most of life in beautiful Park City. Part of their efforts for doing this are to reach out to the younger groups as well in providing the “Wildstar Rangers” club so that kids age 5-12 can join others in activities intended to promote physical activity and an appreciation of nature. Groups attend the zoo, go mountain biking, swimming, engage in craft courses and advanced arts lessons, go ice skating and skiing in the winter and more.
During the winter months even the youngest kids can sign up for a ski lesson or an entire ski course to help familiarize themselves with the snow and the art of skiing while improving balance, coordination and self-esteem. Lessons are taught by certified instructors who are patient and helpful with small children and want to help them enjoy Park City’s favorite sport for themselves.
Group tubing adventures are always a favorite in Park City, particularly in Gorgoza Park where lift-served tubing is a popular past time on a winter day. Instead of having to hoist heavy tubes up the hill over and over again for each of your kids, this park has a motorized lift that latches onto each tube allowing you and your family to spend your time enjoying the ride down instead.
