Many people have skied Park City Mountain Resort or the Canyons or both. However, no one up to this time has skied at the new, combined resort that brings both resorts together. This will change on Nov. 21, which is opening day for the massive new resort.
This new resort, now being marketed as simply “Park City” offers more than 7,300 acres of terrain and 300 trails. This new resort is a result of Vail acquiring Park City Mountain Resort in September of 2014, and taking over the Canyons in the previous year.
As part of this new $50 million project, the two resorts are now one and use a high-speed, two-way gondola known as Quicksilver, to carry skiers between Park City and the Flatiron Lift at the former Canyons.
The new Park City resort is sure to please both skiers and snowboarders. While most skiers won’t be able to take in all 300 runs, there is plenty of terrain for any level of rider.
What’s really great is that visitors who are in the area for just a short time, say three or four days, can still take in a lot of terrain on both the Park City and Canyons sides. This is due to the fact that the new connector lifts, such as Quicksilver can transport skiers easily and quickly.
Additionally, trails have been added that make the connection between the base areas easier. Both areas have also undergone renovations and upgrades to their restaurants and other such facilities. Many of the restaurants have increased seating capacities as part of their upgrades. There will also be a new restaurant that will take the place of the old Snow Hut. And, another new restaurant — Miners Camp — will have 500 indoor seats. Because of the new upgrades and facilities at both areas, guests can expect shorter lines for both food and bathrooms — and who doesn’t like that!?
