Have you heard of the pop-up restaurant trend that is sweeping the nation? During the Sundance Film Successful, a very successful “gorilla restaurant” showed up on the scene, and it was called the Mist Project. Now, beginning March 30 through the 31st, the project will offer cooking classes called “Secrets of the Mist”. The next stop for the famous culinary creations of Mist? Your dining room table! Chef Gavin Baker will share the secrets behind some of the most popular dishes he prepared at his pop-up dining experience, including the Scallop, Apple Granita and Duck Risotto courses. Chef Baker intended The Mist Project to connect regions and people to their indigenous foods, while providing an unparalleled dining experience popping up in temporary and strategic locations. For more information on how to sign up for these classes, please call No Place Like Home, the host for the classes, at 435.649.9700.

One of the biggest weekends of the entire ski season is fast upon us, Pond Skimming at Canyons Ski resort happens March 24th, followed by a rockin’ concert at the resort village center. This is the weekend locals and visitors alike wait for – it means spring is here, and we celebrate its arrival , along with the completion of another amazing ski season, by hucking ourselves across a frigid pond dressed in absolutely ridiculous costumes! The Pond Skimming event takes place at the top of the gondola, just steps from Red Pine Lodge. Not to worry if you don’t plan on skiing or riding, spectator tickets for the gondola are available. This tradition is a must-see during your Park City vacation! Its canyons most popular party of the year! Contestants must dress in costume, the crazier, the better, and then attempt to cross a 100-foot pond on either skis or a snowboard. Contestants must be 10 years of age or older to enter. After the insanity on the hill winds down, head back down on the gondola, or ski on down to the resort village for a free concert. This year, Little Feat will be performing beginning at 3PM. But that’s not all! The Canyons is offering free concerts throughout the week that are free to the public. Check out www.canyonsresort.com for concert schedules and Pond Skimming information.

Has Pond Skimming made you want to take a walk on the wild side? Well, we’ve got the solution for that! Jeff Corwin will be performing live at the Eccles Center on March 24th beginning at 7PM. This is an environmentally friendly event that is truly appealing to the entire family! Visit the Eccles Center website for further details. Perhaps all of this walking-on-the-wild-side has left you craving an exotic culinary experience!
