As the end of the year grows closer, we start to get excited for one of our favorite holidays, and believe it or not, it’s NOT Christmas. We start planning for our Park City Halloween even before the heat of summer has passed. We know what’s important in life: It’s the costumes our dogs are going to wear to the annual Howl-O-Ween celebration on Main Street! This annual event will bring a smile to your heart and works to bring family and fur babies closer together with a lighthearted take on a traditionally spooky holiday!
Park City Halloween Main Street: From Park City to Bark City
Historic Main Street is the only place to be during a Park City Halloween, as the blacktop that usually sports fancy cars and pickup trucks is crowded with costumed revelers and their pets. Young Mary’s prance by proudly with shepherd’s hooks and shih tzu’s decked out in their best little lamb costumes, green garbed Grinches holding on to their reindeer antler bedecked Maxes, and giant bottles of ketchup and mustard walk behind their wiener dog on a bun. These are just a few of the exotic costumes you can expect to see in a unique celebration of the holiday that helps keep us young!
The street party precedes the annual Park City Halloween Main Street parade and offers treats and laughs for all participants, and once the parade starts, the costumed canines and their human counterparts are welcome to march along! Costing nothing for participation, making it a great vacation budget friendly activity, the fun continues late into the cold fall night, and although there is no official costume contest, it’s always fun to conduct your own unofficial contest to determine whose costume combination you think is the best! Will it be the stegosaurus Scottish terrier and his kilt wearing, bagpipe playing master? Or how about Leo the Labrador lion being led by the circus lion tamer carrying a chair and a whip? Yoda the Yorkie taken prisoner by a gang of two stormtroopers? Every year is different, and every costume is original; which will be your favorite in 2018?
