Wasatch Mountain State Park

Wasatch State Park is the second largest state park. This state park encompasses 21,592 acres and is one of the most popular in the state. In the winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. During the summer, get out and explore the area that is absolutely gorgeous. Don’t miss some time on the spectacular Wasatch State Park Golf Course—a top-rated 36-hole course nestled in some of the best views around.

 

Heber Valley Railroad

The historic Heber Valley Railroad is just a short drive from Park City. Train lovers will absolutely love this trip. During your ride on the railroad, you’ll be whisked through gorgeous scenery on a 100-year old excursion train. You’ll be transported back in time on these vintage trains. There are also great special event trips throughout the year, with one of the favorites being the Christmas trip. The Heber Valley Railroad depot is in Heber City, a short 20-mile trip from Park City.

 

Rockport State Park

Rockport State Park, or “Rock-a-Pulco” as it affectionately called by locals, is one of the Utah State Park system’s manmade lakes. This is a wonderful year-round destination and offers all sorts of activities. In the winter, you can try your hand at ice fishing, or take a trip around the lake on cross-country skis. During the summer, the lake is a hotbed of boating and other water activities. There are boat ramps and docks, picnic areas, and various camping spots.

 

Jordanelle State Park

Located between Park City and Heber City is the pristine Jordanelle State Park. This lake is an awesome spot for boating, picnicking, fishing, and camping. Some of the areas are also open for horseback riding, biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. The concessionaire at Jordanelle Marina offers rentals of boats, jet skis, and more. If you are a birding enthusiast, don’t miss the Rock Cliff area. Here you may spot some of the more than 160 species such as eagles, raptors and others that reside in this area.
