Ok. No one is every going to argue that Park City is THE destination for those who enjoy skiing or snowboarding. With our wonderful resorts, terrific accommodations, and so many entertainment options — this is the place to be.
However, there are some wonderful things to do in Park City alternatives to the usual winter skiing or snowboarding activities.
Let’s Go Tubing
A great family-friendly winter activity is tubing. There are to great snow tubing areas — Soldier Hollow and Gorgoza Park. Both parks offer lift served fun to guests who will love blasting down the hill atop those tubes that will make some of us remember childhood days. The younger set will love the thrills of sliding down a hill at thrilling speeds!
Try On Some Snowshoes
The areas surrounding Park City, especially the Uinta and Wasatch Mountains are full of areas to explore on snowshoes. Hire an experience guide who can take you into the outback where you can get in some great photo opportunities, as well as do some exploring.
Try the Excitement That Is Snowmobiling
There are many different snowmobile guide services in the area. One favorite — Thousand Peaks — can take you into the backcountry. You’ll find yourself at some of Utah’s highest peaks where you can enjoy the expansive views. You can also enjoy blasting around in huge powder-filled bowls and meadows.
Go Star Gazing
Just a few minutes away from Park City, you’ll find the Clark Planetarium. It is also the home of a 3D IMAX theater and education center. You can go see the stars, or just browse some of the free exhibits. This is a must for anyone who loves the wonders of space.
Culture at the Capitol
If you want to see the cultural heritage of Salt Lake City up close and personal, visit the iconic Capitol Theatre. Lovingly restored in 1978, this building is now a wonderful example of the elegance of the 1900s. You can also catch some performances by the Utah Opera or Ballet West.
Park City is understandably a popular venue for ski enthusiasts but Utah also has a lot more to offer beyond the snow and ice.
