The Essential Ski Gear

Naturally one of the first things you will want to include in your pack is all of the gear you need for the slopes. Park City Mountain stands above the town, calling your name for another day on the slopes. If you are an experienced skier, you probably already know what you need. Having your snow jacket and pants are always a necessity.

Of course, you will probably see a brave soul out on the slopes in a t-shirt, but we highly recommend keeping yourself warm to actually enjoy the experience. With January highs averaging 31°F and lows hitting 10°F, we recommend a three-layer system: a moisture-wicking synthetic base, an insulating fleece mid-layer, and a waterproof shell.

Speaking of sunlight, experienced skiers know that having a pair of sunglasses on hand is necessary. The reflection of the sunlight on the snow will be in your eyes and make it difficult to navigate without glasses.

While polarized sunglasses are great for après-ski, you’ll want dual-pane goggles for the slopes to prevent ‘snow blindness’ and protect your eyes from wind and debris at high altitudes. Gloves and a helmet will make sure the rest of your body is covered and kept safe.

The final part of packing for your skiing trips is to have the actual ski gear on hand too. If you own your own gear, you will want to bring your skis, poles, bindings, and boots. Park City Mountain offers gear rental over at the base of the mountain.

Grabbing rental gear makes it easy on your packing so you can easily pack light and grab the heavy stuff at the mountain. However, if you are planning on skiing for several days, you will find the cost of skiing adds up quickly if you are renting gear each day.

Standard rental packages in Park City typically range from $35 to $65 per day. If you plan to ski for more than four days, checking your own bag may save you over $150 in rental fees.

Many of our ski vacation rentals have ski-in/ski-out access that puts you just a short walk away from the ski lifts. Now that is some easy access!

For Your Vacation Rental

You will not just be spending time out on the slopes when you stay at one of our Park City ski vacation rentals. Part of the fun of staying at our vacation rentals is getting the chance to relax with our amenities. Our properties are luxury homes that will make sure you rest easy when having a bit of down time. Make sure to bring some comfy clothes to lounge in such as joggers or sweats.

Our properties typically include fireplaces and fire pits where you can relax in front of the heat. No one wants to find down time to only be stuck with uncomfortable clothing. You may also have access to a hot tub so having your bathing suit on hand is definitely a plus!

For Dining Out in Park City

Last but certainly not least is visitors will want to make sure they pack for dining out around Park City. When you explore the city you will find that Park City is home to some incredible fine dining establishments.

Award-winning chefs host a special menu that will provide a special experience not found at other restaurants. Expect a ‘Mountain Casual’ dress code at spots like Riverhorse on Main or Edge Steakhouse. This typically means dark denim or slacks paired with a nice sweater or button-down, rather than a formal suit.

Most of the restaurants are found on Historic Main Street so make sure you have footwear to help navigate the snow and ice you may find on the sidewalk to stay safe.
