The ever-popular Park City Film Series has returned to its home at the Jim Santy Auditorium. The series was temporarily housed at the Prospector Theater during the renovation of the Park City Library.
The new theater offers 449 seats and a new screen that measures approximately 23 feet by 13 feet, and a new digital projection and sound system. A new paint job changed the old pink hue to a tonal grey that is more conducive to film.
Additionally, during film showings the Community Room will now offer concessions before and after the screenings.
Theater renovations were made possible in part through the Summit Count restaurant tax, Sundance Institute, the Go Digital campaign, Park City Municipal, the Dumke Foundation, and the William Wishnick Foundation. The community support of this theater and film series certainly prove just how popular it is.
The Park City Film Series is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to present the best in world and local cinema, as well as independent feature and documentary film. Additionally, the mission of the series is to create a sense of community through film.
The Park City Film Series started as an independent entity in October of 1999, was a project of the Park City Arts Council. It is currently a single screen, art house cinema project that strives to bring films and film related events that are not usually presented through other similar commercial outlets.
Some of the films and presentations are free, while others have very affordable ticket prices, allowing the entire community to participate and enjoy the programming. The Jim Santy Auditorium is located in the Park City Library at 1255 Park Avenue.
