December 18 heralded the long-awaited opening of the Quicksilver Gondola. This opening official made Park City Resort the largest ski resort in the country.
Chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts, Rob Katz, and Chief Operating Officer of Park City, Bill Rock were at the forefront of the celebration, which was also attended by resort guests and community leaders. Festivities included a ceremonial ribbon cutting and champagne bottle smash on Quicksilver. Also featured as a newcomer to the resort was the Miners Camp Restaurant.
Construction on both Quicksilver and Miners Camp started this summer and were part of a $50 million improvement project that also connected Park City to the Canyons Resort. With the Quicksilver Gondola, guests can take a quick 8-1/2 minute ride to experience both areas — Park City and Canyons Village.
Miners Camp is located at the base of Silverlode Lift. It replaced the former Snow Hut and now offers guests a warm retreat from the slopes. The new restaurant offers 500 indoor seats and a menu featuring local ingredients, daily specials, local beers on tap, and other tasty delights.
Mr. Rock said, Quicksilver, Miners Camp and the $50 million in capital improvements across the resort will completely transform the guest experience at Park City. We are thrilled to debut these projects in time for the Christmas holiday.”
In addition to the new gondola and restaurants, visitors will also find more snowmaking, two new trails off Pinecone Ridge, along with major improvements to both the King Con and Motherlode lifts.

As what is now the largest resort in the United States, Park City offers more than 300 trails, 41 ski lifts, and 7,300 acres of terrain.
