Some of the world’s best freeskiers are expected to compete in both events including, Tom Wallisch, Bobby Brown, Nick Goepper, David Wise, and Devin Logan.

The Olympic freesking events in Park City will include Halfpipe and Slopestyle skiing. In the Halfpipe competition, you’ll see athletes perform a lot of fun tricks like somersaults, flips, grabs, and twists. Halfpipe skiing has been around for a while, but it’s fairly new to the Olympics.

The Halfpipe is a well-groomed wall of snow built and groomed for freestyle skiing. In fact, Park City’s Eagle Superpipe was one of the first 22-foot-long pipe built in North America.

In the Slopestyle event, athletes perform on a slope with different types of obstacles, such as rails, quarter-pipes, and jumps. Both Halfpipe and Slopestyle disciplines were added to the Olympics in 2011—where both men and women now compete in these events.

The freeskiing competitions will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. The winners for both events will be crowned on each of those days (Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18).
