300 Days of Sunshine
It may seem strange to talk about sunshine in the winter, but with over 300 days of sunshine, your days on the slopes of Deer Valley Ski Resort are destined to be bright ones. And yet, in spite of all the sunshine, on average a foot of snow falls on the mountain every five days, ensuring a base that is firm, yet fluffy enough that you won’t bruise too badly when you fall! And for those who have ever skied in icier climes, you will appreciate the warmth of the sun beating down upon your shoulders, contrasting against the cold white stuff that keeps you from feeling your toes! The resort itself has been a staple of Park City since the 1930s and has been the training grounds for many Olympic skiers over the years, including Gold Medalist Stein Eriksen who loved Deer Valley so much he took on the position of ski school director staying there until his death in 2015. And although there are no snowboard terrains, the world still loves this magnificent resort, known for its meticulously groomed slopes. Built to accommodate skiers of all skill levels, beginning skiers won’t be intimidated and experienced skiers will fall in love with the intensity of the expert terrain which involves about 32% of the trails. And after a long day of flying down the slopes and riding the lifts back up to the summit, every skiers second favorite activity (après ski) can be enjoyed right there on the mountain at the Après Lounge at Montage. A good time will always be had as you warm up with handmade cocktails and a full menu of small plates that won’t fill you up but will tide you over until it is time to eat the evening meal!
