HomeJourneys To Park CityThings to See Near Park City for a 3-Day Trip

Not every journey needs to be a long and extended one. Sometimes the best getaways are of the shorter variety, and if you have a few extra days open in your schedule, why not spend them in Park City? Close to everything fun in our great state, you don’t have to limit your explorations to what’s in town. Rent a car, hit the road, and discover all the adventures that can be had in the towns and cities that surround Park City. This road map to 3 days in Park City shows the way to three days of excitement and entertainment!

Day 1 – Family-Friendly Fun in Oakley

Located less than a half-hour outside Park City, Oakley is a picturesque country town that is considered an extended part of Salt Lake City and is also the home to The Rundown Ranch Kids Farm. Located at 22 W Boulderville Road and open every day of the week from 10 AM until 4 PM, this special spot will win the hearts of the smallest members of your traveling party! Featuring all the littlest animals kids love, families will enjoy petting and feeding the larger creatures as well, including buffalo, horses, and cows!

Day 2 – Happy Adventures in Heber City

Also located less than half an hour from Park City, Heber City is home to the Heber Valley Historic Railroad, offering scenic train rides throughout most of the year! There’s no bad time to take advantage of their journey, just different sights that can be seen, from summer views of the lush foliage that makes our state so special to fall trips through a kaleidoscope of colors to an extra special trip in which the historic train transforms itself into the North Pole Express! The 90-minute round trip visit to the North Pole includes cookies, hot cocoa, and a special visit with the jolliest of elves, Santa Claus!

Hungry in Heber City?

Whatever today’s adventures bring, following up the fun with a delicious hot and hearty meal is easy when you visit the Back 40 Ranch House Grill at 1223 US-40 in Heber City. Offering a log cabin exterior that adds a charming touch to its pastural surroundings, the grill has recently returned to regular hours and offers dine-in and curbside pick-up in case you are not ready to dine with strangers during these still troubled times. Their comfort food-centric menu is loaded with delicious foods and their Sunday brunch menu may be worth an extra visit, if you have the time!

Day 3 – Icy Delights in Midway

On day three, the final day of your journey, winter visitors are about to discover a treat they will never forget! The Ice Castles of Midway are a seasonal attraction, only open in December, but worth the extra scheduling effort! Offering castles made of ice and LED-lit sculptures in a variety of colors, every breathtaking moment spent exploring this manmade creation will be ones you will never regret giving up!

Munching in Midway

When you are hungry, tired, and desperately in need of a hot meal to warm up your chilled bones, the Café Galleria at 101 W Main Street in Midway will rise to the challenge! Open every day of the week from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM (8:00 PM on Sundays), this Italian restaurant offers massive servings of your favorite dishes! Spaghetti piled high and topped with a giant meatball, thick and layered lasagna, and pizzas topped with your favorite ingredients are just a few of their delicious options! Also offering a delicious breakfast menu that includes amazing skillet dishes and a dessert menu that makes our mouths water, the café has become our go-to spot when seeking something special for dinner! And because they care for your safety during the pandemic, they are open for dine-in, curbside pick-up, and delivery, if your rental home is located within their delivery radius.
